Andrew Dibben became a full-time artist in 1989, specialising mainly in landscape and marine subjects. He is primarily a watercolourist, noted for highly detailed studio work, but also works in the field, resulting in work of a looser appearance. He is known for minutely observed paintings of small wooden boats, architectural subjects, and expansive beach scenes.
He was one of the four founder members of the I.E.A. (Institute of East Anglian Artists), and is also a member of the East Anglian Group of marine Artists.
From 1977 onwards, he has shown work with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (R.I.), the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and the Society of Graphic Fine Art.
