"... ceramics based around expressions of the human figure and the natural world"

Kate Reynolds

Kate Reynolds makes sculptures and ceramics based around expressions of the human figure and the natural world.

Her work sets out to capture the human form in movement, with her swimming or dancing figures or to create the essence of a figure or face with a simple pared outline, in it’s silhouette or gestural marks on clay.

Kate’s art reflects her enjoyment of sculpting, as well as drawing and painting, which unite in decorated ceramic forms, platters and wall pieces. Her ceramics are high fired, but she also produces raku fired pieces. Sculptures for the garden or art pieces for inside the home. She studied at Ipswich Art School, Brighton Polytechnic, and gained an MA in Ceramics in 1984 at Cardiff college.

Kate creates works on paper, employing print, collage, and paint, which can be colourful and playful, and continue themes adopted in her three dimensional work
