"depicting the modern female in its true image"
Michelle Watson
Michelle has developed a visual representation depicting the modern female in its true image, encapsulating all the pressures of life endured; past, present and future. Reality becomes entwined with abstraction, as beauty and scarring unite.
In her paintings, elements of classical figuration juxtapose contemporary painting methods. A certain beauty in the subtlety of paint strokes defines isolated female forms fusing with the rawness of linen and cotton. As Inks, oils and charcoals meet the canvas, the journey of ageing is depicted.
Michelle is a contemporary figurative painter with a degree in Fine Art, working from her studio in Suffolk. Her artwork has been part of multiple group shows in England, and features in private collections both in the UK and abroad. Notable achievements include reaching preselection for the Threadneedle prize, being awarded the Stride Cup, winning the Juliet Pannet award twice, and being presented the Rose Bowl by Philip Jackson.
