Working in English hardwoods the sculptures are mostly based on the human form.
Timber selection is of vital importance in order to display the pattern and grain to their best advantage.
A great deal of time is spent preparing the finish in order that the tactile qualities of the work can be appreciated.
Having served an indentured apprenticeship in the woodwork industry, I later qualified as a Craft and Design teacher. After a few years I left the profession and started my own business, designing and making bespoke furniture.
Utilising the aforementioned skills I eventually progressed into sculpture.
