"... inspiration drawn from ... diverse wildlife, and the colourful chaos of domestic life"
Sue Welfare
I‘m an artist, printmaker, living and working in West Norfolk.
I began working full time as an artist in my very late 50’s after a career as a freelance writer.
I now work primarily as a linocut printmaker, creating unique handprinted images.
Printmaking for me is the perfect balance of art and craft. I love working out the composition and drawing the blocks, and then relish the physical acts of carving, inking and the technical challenges that comes with creating a print.
All my work is handprinted, most usually working with lino. Each colour is rolled on by hand and then built up in layers, cutting away from a single block after each colour is added, and is printed using a traditional etching press so each print is subtly different and a unique piece of art.
My work has strong coastal and country themes, my inspiration drawn from my love of the East Anglian Coast and Countryside as well as its diverse wildlife, and the colourful chaos of domestic life.
