“Building on a foundation of post Impressionism, my work attempts to capture atmosphere and light and the thoughts and feelings I have in response to the scene and to the painting itself. Heavily textured paint and vibrant colour are fundamental to my artistic expression resulting in a surface that reveals more depth and complexity with continued contemplation. Working mainly in acrylic applied thickly with knives and other textural tools I work intuitively and the resulting painting becomes as much about the created surface as the scene that inspired it.”
