"... lyrical, expressive, mixed media works"
Anthea Eames
Shifting between abstraction and figuration, Anthea’s lyrical, expressive, mixed media works develop from her experience of walking and being in the landscape. She aims to convey the spirit and feeling of the place and explores the ways in which the land has been shaped by time, investigating how the elements and human activity have altered and transformed it.
‘I often make my own paints from the earth pigments which I collect along the way, grinding and mixing them with acrylic polymers and resins to create different textures and tones. The resulting layers evoke our ancient past, rich cultures, geology and myth.’
Anthea studied Sculpture in Reading, Berkshire then Art & Design at Norwich University of the Arts, graduating in 1989. She has worked and travelled for many years both here and in Africa and Australia as an Illustrator, designer and teacher, exhibiting widely but now concentrates solely on producing her own work from her studio in Norwich.
