"... moved by the fragility and resilience of nature"
Fliss Cary
My practice is concerned with drawing, printmaking and artists’ books, and is informed by landscape, memory and a sense of place.
I live in a village on the outskirts of Norwich and much of my work relates to this location where I walk daily with my dog. Our route takes us through the urban fringe, where the city’s infrastructure bleeds into rough grazing meadows before morphing into arable land. I make drawings in small sketchbooks on route which become source material for studio work.
I feel moved by the fragility and resilience of nature in the face of encroaching urbanisation and am concerned by the prevailing threat to our shared habitat posed by the wider environmental issues of the day.
