"... influenced by her immediate environment"

Lesley Munro

Lesley Munro trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, graduating in 1984 with a B.A.Fine Art (Hons). After Art College she worked in Television and Advertising in London before training as an Art teacher. She worked in Scottish education for many years.

Lesley lives and works in South Norfolk. In 2016 she became a professional painter. In 2016 Lesley was the winner of Norfolk magazine landscape artist of the year and awarded the Royal Society of watercolours Presidents award in 2020, at the SEAW Selected Exhibition with her painting ‘Beach Channels and Distant Pines’. Lesley is an artist who produces paintings mainly in acrylic and mixed media . She is much influenced by her immediate environment, by the hedgerows, winding lanes and gentle rolling Landscape around her but also by Coastal scenes around East Anglia and beyond. she aims to capture her love for and understanding of the environment, open spaces, light, colour and vast skies. In its essence, the subject for her work remains recognisable although the forms are highly stylised, her paintings aim to reflect nature’s contrasts and harmonies.

‘I use my many sketchbook studies and drawings as a starting point from which a composition develops, and the imagery then evolves through the process of painting my predominantly water based, mixed media work’
