Sara is a contemporary landscape painter, mainly using acrylic and mixed media on board and watercolour on paper. Her motivation to paint stems from a desire to express a connection to and feelings for the natural world and to capture her perception of the essence of a particular landscape.

“I start a painting with loose mark-making, followed by layers of thick paint through which I scrape, scratch and sand back to reveal glimpses of previous layers. I continue to build up and subtract until I am satisfied that the work feels right.“

“Living on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, I am drawn to the tidal estuaries along the North Norfolk and East Suffolk coasts, where the light is reflected off the mudflats and the landscape is in a constant state of flux. My paintings are a combination of memory prompted by photographs and sketches, fusing abstraction and figurative elements of the sea and landscapes to convey the spirit, mood and textures of the places I visit. My work is also inspired and influenced by frequent visits to Cornwall, Scotland and elsewhere in the country.“
